Hi everyone,
I hope this message finds you well.
I’m reaching out at this obscure hour to fill you in on some updates and changes I have made to Micro 2 Go & Prompts 2 Go (formerly Wake Up and Write).
A wise man and fun writer named Mark Starlin once said, “Hey Justin, you should use sections for your newsletter” and I said, “Nah, thanks though, Mark. I know what I’m doing.”
To make a long story short, I didn't know what I was doing. Mark was right. Using sections makes the most sense for what I want to do and what I hope to achieve. (By the way, check out Mark’s Substack here. You’ll be happy you did!)
The plan is relatively simple: I’ve created a new section on Micro 2 Go called Prompts 2 Go. It will feature daily writing prompts and will be structured using the same format as before — like many of you are already familiar with.
Just so you are aware, everyone who is receiving this email is considered a “free subscriber” to both Micro 2 Go and Prompts 2 Go at the moment. To a small handful of you: I apologize! I tried to remove your email from the section you either opted out of or were not a previous subscriber of, but it removed you entirely from my list. Since that seemed like a worse option, it looks like the quick fix is for you to simply unsubscribe when you receive the next writing prompt email. Again, sorry about this! Please reach out directly if you need to.
I’m committed to this newsletter and to this platform. The past year or so I’ve done some experimenting, tinkering, and tweaking because I wasn’t sure if this was the platform for me and my writing. But I can assure you now that I’m all in.
Here’s what you will receive moving forward:
Original microfiction delivered Mondays and Fridays.
A daily, thought-provoking writing prompt.
A “promptpourri” assortment of writing prompts sent on the first of each month (in essence it will be 5+ writing prompts in a single send).
I’m excited about what the future holds here on Substack. Even more so, I can’t wait to send more of my stories and story prompts out into the world. In some small way, I hope my creations inspire you, resonate with you, or make you feel something — even if for a moment.
Take care and thanks for being here!
All the best,
Justin
This made me smile. I learned the same lesson myself. It is less work to manage one email list/website than two. Plus the two newsletters are complimentary.
And thanks for mentioning my newsletter. 🤓
Your Substack just keeps getting better, my friend!
