"Skyward" for sure. It could be science fiction or fantasy or metaphysical or metaphorical, which makes it work on many levels. But more than anything it's comforting. Thanks for sharing! I'll try to make this Friday's 50s, but I have the day off work so I might be lost in a daze and forget. 🤣
Thanks for digging in, Brian. Very true, there are a lot of different takes on that particular story. Oh no worries whatsoever, haha! It would be great to see you stop by, but more importantly, I hope you enjoy your day off!
Justin, I thought each one of these stories was perfect, but my favorite, probably because it reminds me of John and me, is "Looking Back". You'd be surprised at how fast fifty some years go by when you're having fun together! No matter where you are or where you travel.
Thank you for reading them, Andrea! I think that’s my favorite, too. You and John are the epitome of happily ever after. It’s a beautiful thing to witness love stand the test of time!
These are all delightful, Justin Thank you for putting them all together on one page. I especially like the teacher's message in the "drumming" boy. I see another book in the offing... I always welcome a second look at your work, and especially from deep in the archive. Thank you.
Thank you so much for reading these again, Sharron! I’d love to self-publish another collection someday, but there are no plans anytime soon. I enjoy pulling stories from the archive. This summer I might go back to weekly posts and share a “story from the vault” every other week. We shall see! 😄 Thanks again, my friend.
I like "Looking Back." As they say, "Life is what happens while you're busy making plans." And, done right, life is better, even, than a trip to Paris.
These are beautiful! I liked Finding His Beat the most - I can picture the teacher grinning! “…you just don’t know it yet” is a perfect way to close it. Looking forward to reading more!
He decided to check on his wife on the way for a refill. She smiled and said "hello Mr Pavarotti". The last time this had happened he had been singing an opera all the way home. This was her cue that he had had enough booze.
Aw. You plugged your book! YAY! All your fifties rule, Justin. 💜
Thank you so much, Meg. With your kind nudge and advice, I finally did it! Grateful to have a writing pal like you!
For the next 50-word story, Justin, do you ask that we share some advice proffered to us, or for us to proffer advice? Dos it matter?
Doesn’t matter, my friend! Feel free to take the idea in any direction you’d like.
A great fistful of fifties!
Thanks so much, Jason!
Great stories!
Thank you for reading, Leanna!
My wife and I never made it to Paris.
I like what The Radical Individualist said above: “…done right, life is better, even, than a trip to Paris.”
I love your writing. These are all fantastic.
Thank you so much, man. That’s very kind of you to say. Looking forward to your next song when it drops!

Oh this was for Friday! Sorry. I'll surely post again. Thanks for the heads up
Oh no worries whatsoever!
Great stories, Justin. “No Rest” is a classic. Thanks for the prompt. I’ll see what I can do 👍🏼😁
Thank you, Daniel, and looking forward to reading what you come up with! 😄
"Looking Back" really hits hard. Beautiful
Thank you so much, Will!

Absolutely, RI. I like that one a lot, too. It might be my favorite of the bunch as well for similar reasons.

Thanks a bunch, Dan! I’m happy you enjoyed the stories. And thanks for climbing aboard! 🙏
The wise maiden ( Fiction)
The party was boisterous.

Haha! This gave me a good chuckle, Sunil. Thanks for sharing. Make sure you post it again on Friday to get some more eyes on it! 😃
“Lost Era.” Definitely need to expand this!
Agreed Amie—that one has short story potential without question. Thanks for reading!
