Hi Justin!

Just yesterday I talked to a friend who is preparing to publish her first book. Like yours, it’s a collection of 100 word fictions she’s written over the last year.

She’s in that exciting spot where she’s learning the skills between “I’ve got these stories…” and “How do I turn them into a book?”

I pulled 50 Fifties from my shelf and shared photos of it with her. Inspiration?

So often our work and effort touches others in ways we’ll never know.

I’m so happy to be able to share this with you!

Hi Gail!

Wow! That is exactly what I’m talking about! We never truly know who we might impact, or where our words might reach. You just made my day. I am so honored and humbled that you shared my book with your friend. That is such an exciting spot to be in, and I wish them all the best in their journey! (And please feel free to have them reach out to me with any questions! Always happy to lend a hand.)

Congrats - few people realize how difficult it is to push through and complete what you did. the struggle, the inner fight, the persistence. Keep up the good work.

I really appreciate your note of encouragement and the kind words. Thank you! You nailed it. It’s a constant battle, but being able to find a way to push through changes everything.

I can't believe it's been a year since your book was published! It's been such fun watching your writing progress, and I am always excited to see something new from you. Congratulations!! Looking forward to reading another of your published works in the year to come!! (and maybe a father/daughter collaboration!!)

Thank you so much, Andrea! You have no idea how much your support has meant to me over the years. You are still the first person to read my initial drafts, and I’m not sure I’d want it any other way. And yes! D and I have frequent brainstorms about a children’s book I’m working on. She has great ideas! She mainly likes to journal, though. 😊

I bought your book a year ago at an Art Show in McKinney, TX from John L. Loved it, have passed it along to friends who loved it too. I write a 50 from your prompts on occasion and have found I love writing. Thank you for making the effort.

Wow, Zoe! That’s amazing to hear! I’m not sure if I ever knew that. 90 percent of the time I have no idea how people end up here…I’m simply grateful that they stumbled upon my stuff.

John is such a good guy. This is yet another example of one of the “positive ripples” I mentioned. It makes me smile! I am so happy you are here and decided to write. And I am thrilled to hear you fell in love with it, too! 😊

And thank you, Zoe, for buying the book and taking a chance on an indie author. (And thanks for passing it on to others!) Your support means everything to me! 🙏

Congratulations on the anniversary. I will purchase a copy from Amazon, a Christmas present to myself. Yes, whenever we put ourselves out there, we grow. Your support of other writers' works has contributed to your success, as well.

That's amazing Justin! I so feel you on the unfinished manuscripts. I published my collection a couple weeks ago, and it's an incredible feeling. It's so cool to see other micro-fiction writers publishing their collections!

Thanks so much, man! Yeah, one of these days I’ll get around to finishing some of those other projects…ha! Congrats to you, Miguel! What a huge accomplishment! It has to be one of the best feelings, don’t you think so? Keep up the great work over there at Microdosing.

You’re such an inspiration, Justin. Congratulations and thank you for giving me the courage to publish my own little micro-cookbook (100-word stories on the recipes cards in my card file). Every feeling you described is relatable, especially the panic attack! Write on!

Thank you, Barrie! And thank you for being such a great motivator for me. I’m beyond grateful that our paths crossed! I couldn’t agree more with what you said. It’s such a joy to see my daughter (and my son, now, too) fall in love with words.

Love that we all get to nudge one another forward, gently raising the bar as we go.

My ninth grade teacher mentored me to become a writer. Before then, I had no clue what I would do with my life other than the programmed wife/mother/clerk typist. She opened my whole life before me. When I had the nerve/gaul to self-publish and sell my poetry book, it was a huge leap of faith. But such leaps are what make our lives our own. And a middle-school teacher gave me the key to open the door.

Ahh, I love hearing this, Sue. I lived a similar story. My eleventh grade English teacher opened my eyes to the world of creative writing, and fiction writing in particular. I’ll never forget what she told me: “Deming, you could make a career out of this.” I’ve been inspired since. It makes me so happy to hear that other teachers are out there inspiring young minds and pushing them toward the arts.

What a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing it with me.
