What a sweet story. We have an eighty-five year old woman in my neighborhood who just never stops doing things for others. She brings in everyone's empty garbage cans, dresses up as a witch on Halloween for the kids, and tucks "anonymous" Valentines with Hershey's kisses in everyone's mailbox. She is a short story in and of herself. Good neighbors are more rare than they should be.
She sounds wonderful, Andrea. And it does sound like you could write an entire short story about her! We’ve been lucky to have had such wonderful neighbors over the years.
All the feels man. This really made me appreciate my partner. This is the kind of fiction I need when I take things for granted. The kind of fiction that makes you hug your wife a little longer because you know tomorrow isn’t promised. Thank you
Thank you so much, my friend. 🙏 I’m with you. I think subconsciously it’s sometimes why I write stories like this one. I need to hear them or read them, too.
I was tempted to say - rural life at its finest, but then it jumped to small town, then city life at its finest. There are great people everywhere. The true ones don't make any news because it's really quite common. But thanks for the reminder. And for those who might be thinking - that would certainly not be true where I live, I would see that as an opportunity.
I agree with you, Mark. Good people are truly everywhere, and I’d like to think instances like this one are more common than we realize! Thanks so much for reading and sharing!
Awww, I love this neighborly story. Society as it should be. I'll bet you are a good neighbor, Justin.
Thank you, Sharron! I’m lucky to have some wonderful neighbors in my life. I like to think that I’m a good neighbor, too. 😄
That is how being a good neighbor is done. Very sweet. Thanks for the ray of sunshine, Justin. 🤓
Thank you so much for reading, Mark. I agree. If only more people chose to act out of kindness!
A nice slice of life. Thanks for this start to my day.
You’re so welcome, Heather. Thank you for making mine better, too! 😊
Heartwarming ending. Nice work, Justin!
Thank you so much, Amie! I’m happy you enjoyed it.
These neighbors make me smile. I'd like to live there. I enjoyed "Neighbors" a lot.
Thank you so much, Bill! I’m happy you enjoyed my story.
Lovely.
Thank you, Sherman!

Do you want to swap neighbours?
Haha, I’m sorry, but no can do. Our neighbors are lovely. Also, my five-year-old daughter would kill me. Her best friend lives next door. 🤣

Absolutely love this, Justin. Heart warmed at 375 for 45 mins!
Thank you, Barrie! Haha - I love that. 😄
It really is lovely writing, Justin
What a great story Justin. I bet you are one of those kind neighbors. It's to bad that everyone can't be like those two.
Thanks so much for reading, Pennie. Yeah, I am—grew up that way! And I completely agree with your sentiment.
What a gorgeous illustration of community.
Thank you so much for the kind words, Noha! 🙏

We'll never know how common it is because genuinely decent people don't go around bragging about what they do for others.
True - a very good point.
